The controversy of AI art is alive and well. Artists and content creators alike are asking what the future of art looks like, and how well collaborate with AI. Etienne Zeke’s answer is in Mind Pictures, at the Michael Gibson Gallery. These painterly, ephemeral sceneries are interior rooms and city landscapes, gleaned and sorted from a jumble of choppy letters.
Fueled as Zeke describes, “by perception amidst a barrage of images,” these blurry scenes seem half-dreamed, half-viewed through tear filled eyes. A beam of light pours in through a background window, asserting clarity through the overload of images. In a world of information overload, there’s clarity in the making of images.
Mind Pictures is on Exhibition at the Michael Gibson Gallery in London, Ontario from April 12 to May 25, 2024.
