Pride London Art Show returns to TAP

The Forest City’s Pride season is here again and with it comes the London Pride Art Show. Hosted at TAP, this show offers a platform to local 2SLGBTQIA artists from amateurs to professionals. In a time when queer people and their rights to exist are under constant attack, sharing narratives of 2SLGBTQIA joy is very important.

The art show features a diverse range of artists, many of whom are already a significant part of our local art scene, such as Rain Fenek Bloodworth, local illustrator and zine artist.

They contributed multiple pieces to the show, including Whore House, a botanical textile embroidery piece with a cheeky, sex positive message.

Lesbian joy, such as in Paula Telizyn’s And dreams of that which cannot die, is represented in revelatory colours and bright energy.

Gay Eros is also a significant presence at the Pride Art Show. Sophisticated nudes and gay sexuality are on display, vulnerable and playful in an increasingly hostile world.

In this small, artist-run space, the Pride London Art show delivers a message of resilience, belonging, and the promise of thriving. It’s one of the longest running Pride Art shows in North America, and a fine way to acquaint yourself with artists and community members. This representation is needed more than ever.

The London Pride Art Show will be on display at TAP Centre for Creativity from July 9th to July 20th.
